THE MUSIC In Syrinx Debussy put timbre and dynamics in focus, and with the works by Varèse and Jolivet in the 30's, the flute entered and participated in the modernistic world of music. In Sweden, members of the "Monday Group" wrote several flute solos during the 40's, in close collaboration with Swedish flutists, who also performed the pieces frequently. During the 50's we find solos by composers as Scelsi and Berio, and after 1967, the new flute techniques were developed, and works by Takemitsu and Ferneyhough used sounds which had never before been heard. The music on the cd SOLO PER FLAUTO follows this development, with a focus on Swedish works from 1970 an onwards. The flautist Mats Möller has for two decades collaborated with many Swedish composers, and several of the works he has now recorded were written for him. We also find two duos on the cd, Miklos Marós' CINGUETTIO for two flutes, written in 1995, and a duo for two bass flutes, FENG from 1997, written by Mats Möller's son Johannes, also a pupil of Maros.
